The Way of the Warrior

BASED in a long hall, on the north side of Gods’ Way (Map Ref: I6) is the headquarters of the only fighters’ guild in Sarbreenar. Called the Way of the Warrior, it was formed during the siege. During that time, various mercenary companies were hired to fill out the ranks of the besieged. The Way of the Warrior was formed as a means of co-ordinating the diverse groups that came. Each member is tattooed with a flaming sword on his upper right arm.

The current guildmaster, is a Myrmidon, known as Tic Granitemaster. Tic took over after the death of Hamish McTasker, a 65 year old Ranger.

The post of Deputy Guildmaster is held by Rim Goblinreaver, who has claimed that his Grandfather was an ambassador from the Clan Hammer dwarves. He was away on a diplomatic visit to the Stone Fist Clan, when the Clan Hammer fought their last stand and he thus escaped their doom.

The hall features a meeting-room, weapon and armour repair shop, shrine to Tempus, training room, and two communal sleeping chambers. The guild provides a place for a warrior to rest his head, sharpen his weapon, bang out the dents in his armour, and perhaps find employment. Outside is a small arena. Occasionally, caravan leaders come here to take a look at new talent and to hire escorts.

Entry into the guild is a two-step process. The first step is to be nominated for membership by an existing member, or a former member who left in good standing. The second step is a bout of non-lethal melee with one of the instructors. The applicant need not be able to defeat the instructor, a convincing showing of the applicant’s ability to wield a weapon is all that’s needed. Membership is open to males, females, humans and demihumans, and all the types of warriors that there are. rangers, paladins, cavaliers are all are eligible to join. Multi-classed fighters are also allowed, with the understanding that their magic, clerical devotions, or thieving skills are not welcome within the walls of the hall.
