JA’LAC MARS rose from a criminal past to be elected as the Mayor of Sarbreenar. Some say that many of the votes came from the worst criminal elements in the city. He held the post for a year. After an embarrassment with a lost Mayoral Chain he lost the next election to Boris the Hat. Ja’Lac is now the Hanging Judge of Sarbreenar. His many year’s knowledge of criminal law stand him in good stead.

Ja’Lac Mars is a skilled and clever Merchant. (He says that during his adventuring days he was a Defender, a warrior with some recourse to magically enhanced items that could give him an edge in a fight. )

Ja’Lac Mars was once a hireling to Nemini the Deathweaver. Legal proceedings during the course of the 1372 DR High Harvestide Festival decided that Ja’Lac Mars was a go between for the ‘thugs’ and ogres that Nemini used to dig and defend his lair in the desecrated Auld Cemetery to the south east of Sarbreenar, near White Meadows. Ja’Lac Mars was found NOT guilty of Conspiracy against the City of Sarbreenar. The Judiciary decided that he was unaware of the true nature of Nemini’s plans and due to lack of evidence he was not convicted. Instead he was granted access to citizenship should he choose (and as long as he reached the criteria required). During the following year his behaviour and service to the City was exemplary.

In the election of the year 1373 he was elected Mayor of Sarbreenar. Although there were rumours of vote rigging, nothing could ever be proved. He served for one year but was ousted by the people’s choice – Boris the Hat. Ja’Lac has since been awarded the post of Hanging Judge for Sarbreenar.
