White Meadows
Nine miles south of Sarbreenar on the road to Procampur
HITE
MEADOWS is an area of land that has become synonymous with spell
casting and Wild Magic.
At some time long since forgotten it was used by Netheril
spell casters. One of them stood on top of a large marble monolith
and cast his newly invented spell for the first time . He had practised
and practised the moves and gathered the components for the casting.
But at some stage the casting went awry!
After the noxious gases cleared and the magic settled,
the area was as white as white could be. The grass; the earth; the
roots and even the marble monolith were pure white. The marble plinth
had been transformed into chalk.
At first spell casters came to the area in droves
but over the years the pilgrims stopped coming and the area became
a routine rest stop for travellers. Once in a blue moon, a spellcaster
would come to cast a spell and see what distorted results there
would be. Even the original spell casters name has been forgotten
although some people do say it was the Mage of Shadows and that
can never be verified now.
The area is an oval shape, thirty feet from the main
road. The road is bordered by a white picket fence. It extends approximately
200 paces north south along the roadside. At its widest point it
is 140 paces across and at either end it is 30 paces across. The
otherside of the meadow is bordered by another white fence which
separates it from the dense woods. In the centre of White Meadows
is a chalk boulder, four paces tall. You would expect it to have
eroded badly but it remains intact. It radiates a faint magic which
pulsates emanations from all schools of magic.
At the gaps in the white fence are signs which read
1359 The Year
of the Serpent
Be warned, spell casters, you will be held accountable for
all your actions. Spells are cast at your own risk.
