The Battle for
Sarbreenar

I’d been stationed at the North wall, sector F3 with the following guys:

  • Krakov Greataxe, brilliant fighter
  • Brin, a Mage
  • Yosven, a fighter
  • Ashimar, a Paladin of Tyr
  • Godwin Secundus, mage
  • Craven, a bard
  • Jom Tomes, Priest of Milil
  • Amy, cleric of Carl Glittergold

E HAD SOME cover from our defences, but a goblin horde was chucking a hail of stones and other stuff at us. Godwin took loads of them out with a Chain Lightning, and the bards and the clerics were doing all they could to bolster our morale and fightpower. There was a big red dragon flying around scouring the city walls. Eventually it flew over us but I managed to evade it's breath. Godwin was having fun fireballing goblins, but we ended up in melee with some of them. When they were dealt with another wave was incoming, so Godwin put up a Wall of Flame over them. The red dragon was still flying around, but suddenly there was a Bronze Dragon around too, and that one appeared to be on our side!In amongst the goblins there were various normal wolves, but there was also one huge white Winter Wolf breathing cold at us - Krakov took it on in melee and made very short work of it... meanwhile Brin's 'Celestial Badgers of Doom' were ripping lots of the normal wolves apart.

Away from our immediate fight, it looked as though the Bronze Dragon might have been killed, but the Red Dragon was badly hurt and was retiring. We were also hearing reports that the armies of the living and the dead (ie Dark Omen's & Nemeni's) were fighting each other as well as us. Behind the normal wolves near to us were Dire Wolves waiting to come in, and lots more goblins. Citizens were taking on the goblins but were taking casualties. We sent out a call for reinforcements, and were joined by

  • Keran and
  • Anghil

Anghil lightning bolted the wolves, so that all but 2 were killed. We earned ourselves a short respite, as our area now had what was essentially a wall made out of dead goblins. After a while we began again, then suddenly

  • Krakov

disappeared in a swirling mist (we later found out that anyone carrying a doom marker was summoned elsewhere.) Anghil's hawk could see lots more goblins and normal wolves. Amy cast a confusion into the middle of them and Anghil webbed a load more. We heard rumours that our people were fighting a powerful party of adventurers down at the Low Gate, and that Basilican had had his hand chopped off there.

  • Anghil left to go there to help.

We just had one flank of goblins coming at us now, and we heard a rumour that everyone was dying at the Low Gate, so

  • Amyleft to go there too.

The confusion she'd left behind seemed to be doing loads of good. Plus ‘Da Hood’ came into play and started too, so I went down to the Low Gate to help there too. It seemed that lots of other people had had the same idea as there were too many people around for me to be able to get in, so I came back to my original position.

  • Race
  • Greentop
  • Darwin and
  • Jean-Neve now joined us too.

The gnomes from High Haspur had arrived and engaged, and this was having the effect of slowly pushing the undead army our way. Then we heard elven warhorns as the Brinwood Elves arrived, and they too were squeezing the enemy towards us so that we were getting pushed back a bit. We were now fighting a mixture of Dire Wolves, Winter Wolves, Zombies and Dire Bears. To add to this there were undead coming from behind us that had got into the city somehow. It seemed that part of the wall further down from where we were had been breached.

Then we saw a metal construction coming along the wall with Gnomes in, tearing undead apart, and it was obvious that we had won the day! The fallen bronze dragon appeared to re-form as a Dracolich, and flew off into the distance.
