The High and Honourable Convocation of Spellcasters

WHEN a group of spellcasters occurs there is the potential for mayhem. In order to stop this, most towns and cities encourage a body which is usually known as a ‘Spellcasters Guild’. In Sarbreenar this body is known as ‘The High and Honourable Convocation of Spellcasters’. Those who join have constituted a joint non-aggression agreement with each other. Alliances and even friendships form because of the cross-networking of minds and ideas. The spellcasters all share the common interest of seeing Sarbreenar prosper, as a prosperous city leads to a stable city which, in turn, results in the perfect environment for a spellcaster to engage in long-term research. The Convocation is seen as a social outlet for members, a gateway to excitement, an excuse to escape the mundane, and a place to learn.

The Guildmaster is officially known as The Lord Convocator, and the present incumbent, Godwin de Secundus is a native of Sarbreenar. Prior to the siege he was Fifth in seniority so was left in charge of the actual building. The mages senior to him were all killed in the siege, and so he had the job thrust upon him.

One of the Convocation’s original goals was survival, coupled with preservation of the Art. The original Convocator (now deceased) magically shielded and warded the groups premises so that nothing may Teleport, Gate, Plane Shift or Blink into the structure. These barriers also prevent outsiders from scrying and any astral or ethereal travellers from gaining access.
