Inns and taverns of Sarbreenar

The Phantom Skald

FOR THE adventurers whose finances are modest, The Phantom Skald is the perfect choice of residence while in Sarbreenar.

The Phantom Skald is owned by Barem Helannon and Hunar Tuntapper. The Inn is easily identified by an ornate sign above its double oaken doors, which shows a pair of ghostly hands strumming a harp.

Prices are reasonable at the Inn and a variety of ‘payment plans’ are available. Characters may share a room (within limits) or opt for a private room. More well-to-do guests may even get a luxury suite, complete with bath. Meals can be included in the price of a room or paid for separately as guests desire. The food is standard inn fare: beef, cheeses, mutton, game, homemade breads, etc. Ale, beer, and wine are all available. Portions are plentiful and the cooking is good.

The Inn has two storeys, the top being the guestrooms, the bottom consisting of a Dining Room (operates from sunrise to about 9 p.m.) and a Tavern (operates from noon to about 1 a.m.). The Tavern is a hangout for many of Sarbreenar’s decent, lower middle-class types. Several excellent bards and minstrels (when available) provide entertainment in the Tavern. The Tavern can get rowdy at times, but Hunar and Barem strive to keep the riff-raff out.

The Inn also has a reputation of being haunted by a somewhat mischievous spirit – but this is just hearsay. Rooms are available at any time of the day or night, since there is always a clerk on duty at the front desk.
